ZOMG I LOVE ROCK CLIMBING
and rock falling :D

omg! today 20 intstructors went to temasek poly's rock climbing clinic! :D
ah omg it was so fun! :D
me and mokmok met up with avery, bernice and yeeting at 7.30am
at first becasue my cousin told me it'd take very long, we all panicked and some of us met earlier at 715 thereabouts.
in the end it took quite little time there -.-
or maybe it's because we passed time on the bus trip by talking a supersuper lot of rubbish :D
omgs we are so crappy i can just faint on the bus alr! -.-
at first when we reached there, many other people were in fbts and we were the only ones wearing track pants -.-
then when we walked around on the gigantic campus, people were staring at us.
orange people in track pants.
we probably looked like we got lost on some camp orienteering activity and ended up in their school -.-
but latter it turned out that the fbt people were running a marathon :D
so we are therefore not kuku :D
we found the rockwall after some time.
and all of us just stood there and stared.
IT WAS SUPER SUPER SCARY.
like this tall tall difficult looking 1oM rockwall.
it was divided into three section,
the left side was flat with a lot of missing tiles, and the right side was flat also, but with more tiles.
the CENTER section was the super scary one.
it was very tall, and it had this HUGE overhang.
we just stood there and stared amazedly at the tp climbers, because they climbed the wall in SECONDS, not minutes.
like whooshwhooshwhoosh, and they already went up already and coming down.
and omg they belay themselves! D:
THEY ARE DAMN PRO CAN.
and the belayers are so sure the climbers wont fall, that they hold the rope loosely and never really had any proper position D:
i am zomgamazed. and the climbers climb like spiderpeople. they climb as though it was as easy as walking D:
and they can maintain their position even with two point contact or less D:
and they are so power that they can swing themselves up when they are under the overhang D:
the way we were staring, you would have thought we had never seen a rockwall before.
yes, that was how pro they all were.
and it's like they told us there was this 24hr cheers store on campus, and asked if we needed to buy anything, then all of us were like "we'd like to stay here and watch"
and that was only the beginning D:
they were only setting up equipment D:
and they climbed the flat, tileless 1oM wall in 7 deconds! D:
amazing right, normally even for the 8m rockwall at sch, we take like MINUTES to climb D:

and nurul, sherri and i were rubbishing while staring at the climbers!
omgs NURUL IS VERY RUBBISHY.
oh and we tried, it was more difficult than they made it look. but it was super fun, and when we fell, we didnt like scream and scream "HELP!HELP SAVE ME!" and all that sort of thing we normally do, we were like laughing.
hohos, maybe we went psycho from fear already.

i climbed the right side 2nd lane, and it was super difficult to get a foothold. the footholds are all puny, and it was quite empty, so after you climb alr, you'll think "oh shayte, where to go now?!" then after rockfalling, i rested and bernice tried. we couldnt climb ):
then they screwed on some tiles and made it easier :D
YAY! and after that hafeeza climbed like supersuper high.
and at first i went with jialing, then she too pro alr, i was like stuck at the bottom while she alr climb super high D:
OBS POWER! hahaha.
and _ _ power too! HAHAHA
and audrie and layeng and yuting and avery and many people were super pro also! (:
yuting has "long arms, long legs, long body" and she made climbing the rock wall look super easy!

then after that bernice's hands got abrasion from rockwall and she had to apply medication. bernice! next time wear gloves to climb! :D
then after that i tried this weird lane which was this shape: ┐
and i had to start from the │ part which was quite narrow. like the length of my shoulders. but it was super fun. at first i couldnt climb up, because i simply didnt know how to because there was only ONE rock for foothold, and the next closest rock is like one arm's length higher D:
then after falling a few times, i managed to climb up :D
and omg i tried changing footholds D:
it was super scary because your legs will shake like crazy and the rock is the size of a hand, but it was fun :D
but then couldnt progress alr, because i was super lei4.
then later jiatian tried and got stuck at the same place too
and hahaha we decided to plan our route up.
then later we forgot our route and just climbed up x)
i learnt something: desperation helps in rock climbing xD
because my hand was getting super tired grabbing the handhold, and i was so deperate not to fall off, i just got very pekchek and stuck my elbow into the handhold and used my elbow to push myself up the rock o.o
i still cant believe i did that.
and the zomgamazing thing is, it worked!! :D

i learnt that in rock climbing, you are not limited to using your fingers and legs to push yourself.
you can use your elbows, and knees and whatever you can think of.
and omg, when there is no tile, we just pushed ourselves with our feet on blank wall. it's zomgamazing ok because it's possible!
and the most important thing in rock climbing is, to believe that the foothold/whatever, no matter how small, WILL still be secure enough for you to not slip off.
it's all in your head :D
and the instructors were super nice ok, they kept helping us and guiding us along the rockwall, and helping us plan our routes!
and we were super enthusiastic/zihigh! (:
we kept cheering and all in all we were being noisy (:
in the best possible way (:
so cool okay, we learnt and tried different techniques today :D
and the instructors didnt even teach it to us theoretically, they just instructed us how to do it, and we followed and did it! :DD
practical is a good way to teach new things! :)
and we learnt (by observing them) how to be better leaders, they are very good at instructing and public speaking i tell you.

oh apart from us, there were three nanyang girls there, guo shu, cai jing, and yingkuan!
apparently cai jing ( i think ) is some competitive climber D:
but she also had difficulties climbing up.
they're nice people :D
and we cheered them on too! (:
later we had some competition thing, to clip runners on a black sling on the rock wall.
there were two parts: clipping and unclipping.
the runners were not the white string we use, it was actually a sort of sling, with a karabiner attached to each side permanantly.
we hung it on the sling by clipping one of the karabiners onto the sling.
and we split into groups: one and two!
one was wanton, as in the food :D
and two was either number two or taupok! :D
i'm in wanton! (:
ahaha omg our belayers are super nice and funny i tell you, to help us, because we got the more difficult wall, they pulled us up! like two people will suddenly become anchorman and help pull the belayer backbackback so the climber will shoot up! o.o
omgs it was very funn yand we laughed until we nearly died.

then later on, we had to clip the runners together in the proper way.

talking to cheryllee is super nice. she's super sensible and logical and we discussed Serious Matters on the way home (:
